Therapy & Services

Individual therapy

Individual therapy is available for adults aged 18 and over, online across Australia via Telehealth or face-to-face at the Moruya office. Therapy can be short- or long-term, depending on what you’re looking for and what feels appropriate for your needs. Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they’d like support with, while others are looking to work through longstanding patterns or experiences.

My approach is primarily informed by Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), while also drawing from approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy.

The focus isn't on fitting you into a particular treatment — it's on finding an approach that makes sense for you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps people process distressing experiences that continue to affect them. While EMDR is well known for treating trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it can also be helpful when past experiences contribute to difficulties in the present.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to support the processing of distressing memories and experiences, helping them feel less overwhelming over time. Importantly, EMDR does not require you to retell all the details of what happened.

Schema
Therapy

Schema Therapy is a form of therapy that helps you understand the deeper emotional patterns that develop through your experiences and that continue to influence how you think, feel and relate to others.

These patterns can affect relationships, self-worth and the way you respond to yourself and the world around you. Together, we explore where these patterns came from, how they show up in your life now, and the ways you have learned to cope with them.

Schema Therapy can be particularly helpful when you feel stuck in longstanding patterns that haven't shifted with previous therapy.

Whether you’re navigating a specific challenge or wanting to work through longstanding patterns, therapy at Driftwood Psychology Practice provides a space to understand what’s happening and find a way forward.
